O'Neill's Hyperfreak Fire 3mm Split Toe Boot has been fitted out with O'Neill's most premium wetsuit features including the new, incredibly stretchy TB4 exterior firewall to give you a high-end boot that really performs. The Hyperfreak Fires have been designed with TechnoButter 4 neoprene, a seriously flexible and supple neoprene that uses an Envy Foam core rubber (basically a neoprene with a whole lot of volume and not much cell wall for max stretch). This means the range of motion in the ankles isn't restricted by stiff neoprene for more responsive, natural feeling surfing all the while keeping you toasty with a generous 3mm neoprene coverage.
They've also been kitted out with some other features you'd expect in a high-end wettie like TechnoButter firewall and TBX4 interior taped seams with a fluid seam weld on the exterior.
'That's a bit of a mouthful.'
We agree. That's why we took the time to put together a to help you understand what all this mumbo-jumbo means. Basically, what you're reading means that water won't be penetrating the seams of these boots and that they've been reinforced to the max to be durable and watertight.
The O'Neill Hyperfreak Fire 3mm Boot Features:
- Durable Outsole: Critical stuff given the wear and tear the bottoms of surf booties are exposed to. It protects the neoprene, protects you and gives added grip.
- Anatomical Fit: Not just panels whacked together - they've been shaped to match the contour of the average foot for a better feeling fit.
- Arch Strap: This helps to lock your foot into the bootie.
- Heel Pull: For making getting into your booties easier, and anchored to the durable outsole to protect the supple TBX4 neoprene.
- O'Ring Seal: This sits around your ankle and creates a firm seal at the opening to stop water flushing. No point in having these crazy seams if the water's pouring in through a gaping hole.
- Split-Toe Design: You've got to be able to feel your board beneath your feet, and finely adjust your balance, which a split-toe design allows you to do.
- Materials:
- Exterior: TechnoButter 4
- Interior: TechnoButter Firewall
- Interior: TB4X Taped Seams
- Exterior: Fluid Seam Weld
- TB4 Firewall: TB4 Air Firewall interior, that bright red lining, uses a complex 3D weave structure to create air gaps that heat up and insulate your feet. It's also ridiculously flexible.
- Glued and Blind-Stitched Seams: GBS seams use a hooked needle to ensure no pin-holes are made during the sewing stages, as a result, the only passage for water is the gap between the two panels but O'Neill plug the entire suit with an elastic glue that not only stops all water flow but barely affects the overall stretch of the suit. It's not the most expensive but it's certainly one of the best seams around. Intrigued? Check out our .
